Etymology

From Proto-Slavic *gorpavъ, *xorpavъ. Derived from гра́па (grápa, roughness, unevenness) (dialectal) +‎ -ав (-av). Akin to Macedonian рапав (rapav), Serbo-Croatian хра̏пав, Polish chropowaty.
