Tundra Nenets
[edit]Pronunciation
[edit]Letter
[edit]ˮ
- The thirty-sixth letter of the Tundra Nenets alphabet, written in the Cyrillic script.
Usage notes
[edit]Usually marks instances of the glottal stop /ʔ/ that either do not participate in any alternation, or alternate with the oral stop д (d°) /d/, in contrast with the letter ʼ. Often transcribed q in scholarly sources. In some words the letter is silent and is used to indicate word-final consonants that are not followed by an unwritten schwa.
