[edit]From Proto-Mordvinic *keľ~*käľ, from Proto-Uralic *käle. Cognate with Moksha кяль (käľ), Finnish kieli, Northern Sami giella, Udmurt кыл (kyl), Nganasan сиәде (siədje).
