[edit]Etymology
[edit]Perhaps related to ῥέω (rhéō, “to flow”), because of the richness of the juice, with hypothetical original form *ῥοϝ-ιά (*rhow-iá). However, a Pre-Greek origin remains a serious option for this word. Phonetically, the variation in the series ῥοιή : ῥοιά: ῥόα can be compared with that seen in χροιή : χροιά (khroiá, “skin”) : χρόα.[1]
