- A macron used as diacritical mark under a letter of the Latin alphabet.
- (romanization) used to create the letters ⟨ḏ, ḏ̣ (synonym ẓ), ẖ or ḵ, and ṯ⟩, which transliterate i.a. Arabic ذ, ظ, ج, ث.
- (IPA, obsolete) once used for a low level tone, in contrast with ⟨◌̄⟩ for a high level tone.
