[edit]From *mig- (“light rain, drizzle”), from Proto-Indo-European *migʰ-, *migʰ-lo- (“drizzle, fog”), from Proto-Indo-European *meygʰ-, *h₃meygʰ- (“to flicker, blink, be dark; cloud, mist”). Cognate with Lithuanian miglà (“fog”), Russian мгла (mgla, “fog, haze”).
