From Proto-Albanian *dʰh₁-teh₂, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰeh₁-, *dʰh₁- (to place, put). Cognate to Ancient Greek τίθημι (títhēmi, to place), Latin facio (I do, make), Lithuanian dėti (to put), Sanskrit दधाति (dádhāti), Old English dōn (to do).
