- (colloquial) once, as soon as
- Güven kağıt gibidir; bir kere buruştu mu, hırpalandı mı bir daha eskisi gibi olmayacaktır.
- Trust is like paper; once it's wrinkled, once it's battered it'll never be like it once was.
Inflection
[edit]Slightly irregular conjugation despite mi being a particle. Aorist are the same with future (but imperfective -yor > muyum). Past, inferential, and conditional tenses instead of having normal endings (*mıdım, *mısam, ..), this particle instead has -y-. This irregularity arose from the compounding with *imek, of which has past idi, conditional ise, and inferential imiş, later suiting to the Turkish vowel harmony.
This particle follows vowel harmony from the previous word (see below), thus sever miyim, not *sever mıyım.
