I just started in animation this year and I absolutely adore it, although as for recommending to someone else, I’ll answer that in another text coz it’s an extremely complex question
That said!!! in regards to my every day at school, the workload can be heavy and I often stay at the computer labs till 9pm to finish some things, but it never feels too fast-paced, you just gotta be ready to ask a lot of questions all the time. I’ve got 4 animation-centric classes this semester, two of them teaches me how to use the various programs (TVpaint, photoshop CC, premiere pro..etc.) as well as the camera and sound equipment. One class is to teach the fundamentals of anatomy, perspective and character design. And the last class teaches cinematography and a bit of Art history.
Surprisingly, while it can be a bit frustrating to look at someone who is much more talented than you, overall there is much less of a sense of…aggressive competition? Instead, there’s actually a strong sense of camaraderie, we help each other out all the time, hang out after class, complain together…etc. it’s a really friendly atmosphere.
