Provide tools and support. If a member discloses personal challenges, provide resources and support if at all possible. Remind the team that they are there to aid one another; occasionally, little changes will enable them to re-engage without feeling overburdened. Share in charge of tasks. If necessary, consider rearranging or assigning work among the crew. This strategy can help the individual relax and let other team members address critical areas without animosity.

First, I would remind everyone of the importance of teamwork and participation, rather than focusing on one individual. If there’s no improvement, a one on one talk to explore what issues the person is dealing with that are hindering their performance

The key is to identify why the team member's performance is lagging. Once you understand the underlying reason, you can address it effectively. For instance, if the team member is an introvert and performs best independently, consider assigning a portion of the project to them individually, while the rest of the team handles the remaining tasks. Alternatively, if the project lacks motivation for them, it’s essential to find ways to boost their engagement - such as through rewards and recognition. .

(editado)One has to deal with the microaggressions on those who consciously and subconsciously do not like peers working alongside them because it's like we are the overseers' and what they were used to treating patients in their facilities, we are there to make sure that those things doesn't happen. What may be considered as "slacking" off could be a direct reaction of maintaining one's own personal recovery while helping other's start their own. How you would support your team member is sitting them down and asking them what is going on and how we all can support them. Having lived experience means to give those around you the grace and guidance that wasn't extended to us.

Approach the situation with empathy by having a one-on-one conversation to check in on the team member and offer support. Encourage open dialogue within the team for sharing updates and challenges, making space for them to share any issues. Offer assistance or collaborate on tasks to re-engage them. Promote a positive environment where contributions are valued, reminding everyone of the shared goals to reinforce responsibility. Lead by example with dedication and enthusiasm, as positive attitudes can be motivating. Propose regular informal check-ins within the team to maintain momentum and ensure everyone stays on track.

To energize a peer support team or a member that may be slacking, WE remind one another that WE are a team and look at the obstacles and struggles we have over came but we continue to face and still sober. We lift them back up. There is nothing more rewarding than to see the light come back on. We want other alcoholics and addicts to know they never ever have to face that impending doom again one day at a time. I believe our higher power puts us with the right people at the right time. Our past doesn’t define us anymore but it molds us to be the sober, humble and beautiful people we are today. We must always show gratitude and not forget where we came from. We’re free, we suit up and show up for the ones still suffering and needing help.
