Prefecto de Egipto
gobernador de la provincia de Egipto durante el Imperio romano
El prefecto de Egipto era el gobernador del Egipto antiguo durante su periodo romano.
Era escogido en el orden ecuestre o de caballeros romanos, pues los senadores y miembros del orden senatorial, que ocupaban normalmente los puestos de gobernador, no tenían derecho de permanecer en Egipto. Poseía el título de Praefectus Augustalis, lo que muestra que gobernaba esta provincia esencial y rica en trigo en nombre del emperador romano (o Augusto).
