Mridangam
At least 2,000 years ago, the Mridangam emerged as one of the most ancient percussion instruments in India. Hindustani classical music from the North and Carnatic classical music from South India both feature the two-headed drum. Some famous mridangam players are Guruvayur Dorai, Umayalpuram K., Sivaraman.
