2017 Highly Commended - Milford-on-Sea Beach Huts

The 119 beach huts in Milford-on-Sea in the New Forest were constructed to withstand a 1:200-year storm event. Concrete was the chosen material for the project, due to the exposed location of the site. Its structural capacity allowed significant enhancements to the project’s functionality, including the creation of a roof-top promenade. The design uses graphic printed concrete & relief artwork. Snug Architects, Ramboll and Knights Brown, with New Forest District Council worked on the project.
