Joy in the Garden 🌸Joyce Merschman Ludlow on Instagram: "Late fall is the time to cut back all of the foliage on your peonies to prevent the spread of disease. * The stems should be cut back at or near ground level. * The dead foliage may contain fungal spores that aren’t visable to the naked eye, so don’t compost the foliage. Two common fungal diseases of peonies are leaf blotch and powdery mildew. Both can cause issues if foliage remains throughout winter into spring. I will admit I have a love affair with peonies! I think they turn my gardens into a beautiful painting in late spring. I tend to tuck them in where I can find a little space. I have three Itoh Peonies and one traditional herbaceous peony. * Itoh Bartzella * Itoh First Arrival * Itoh Smith Family Yellow * Traditional

Dana Carpenter | Houseplant care on Instagram: "This is too good not to share!! Do you love the look of aged terracotta?? Over time our terracotta pots develop patina from exposure to salts and minerals in soil and water. Sometimes it’s hard to wait for that to naturally develop…and that’s where this simple plant hack comes in! ✨🪴 Using mod podge, water, a paintbrush and flour—you can create the aged look. Just dilute the mod dodge with water and brush it onto your planter. Add as much flour as you prefer the look of and rub it in. This easy diy is addicting! I couldn’t stop once I got started! Which do you like better? Aged or new terracotta pots for your plants? Comment below! Thanks to @blossomandbranchfarm for the inspiration! . . . . . #terracotta #diy #craft #simplediy #agin
Skye Hamilton • Home & Garden • Hydrangea Queen on Instagram: "I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again,I will yell up from the rooftops. The very best thing for the health and longevity of your Mums is to repot it. I have seen all of the hacks. I’m watering and soaking and it doesn’t address the main issue. If you don’t have enough soil to retain the moisture, it’s not going to help long-term. Repotting your mum in an even slightly larger pot will help tremendously. Your mum will require much less water, and create a stronger root system should you want to plant in ground at the end of the season. Steph Green | Container Garden Expert on Instagram: "⚠️Controversial opinion: Skip the Mums and Pansies this Fall! If you want a colorful, really low maintenance container garden, try these instead: 🌾Pennisetum ‘Piglet’ ❤️Echinacea ‘Salsa Red’ 🌸Anemone ‘Curtain Call Deep Rose’ 🤍Cabbage ‘Osaka White’ 🍇Dwarf Weeping Loropetalum ‘Purple Pixie®’ 💥SuperCal® Petunia ‘Orange’ 🥬Kale ‘Coral Queen’ Yes, we love Mums for their uniform mounds of flowers and we love Pansies for their happy faces! But both plants require frequent deadheading to look and bloom their best. (Yup, you should be deadheading these!) So tell me below…are you FOR or AGAINST Mums & Pansies? There are no wrong answers!💚 #fallcolor #fallflowers #containergardeningideas #containergardens #containergardening #diygardeni
Lucy Akins | Craftberry Bush on Instagram: "I worked an event once and noticed how the florist uses plastic containers in their vessels. Which makes so much sense as you can turn pretty much any vessel into a vase. So I cut a plastic bottle and it worked perfectly in this pot. You can obviously use jars but I like that the bottle can be cut to the exact height."
