Jessica Shaw on Instagram: "Here’s another one of my favorite ways to sew an elastic waistband using the “casing” method 🙂🪡 Depending on the project, I alternate between the casing method and sewing the elastic directly onto the garment (my last reel - another method that’s arguably more fun 🤪) If you use the casing method, the biggest thing you want to make sure is that you’re leaving enough room on your folds for your elastic to fit inside (plus a little room for seam allowance - and maybe a liiiiittle wiggle room so it’s easy to feed your elastic through) but not TOO much room that your elastic will twist while inside the casing! #sew #sewistsofinstagram #sewistofinstagram #sewist #sewinglove #sewingtutorial #sewinghacks #sewsewsew #singerambassador #singersewingmachine #diy #u

DariaPatternmaking.com 🪡 on Instagram: "My favorite method for creating neat slits 🤍 First, strengthen the starting point of the slit area by adding a small piece of interfacing. Then, fold over the entire edge by 6–7 mm (approximately 1/4 inch). Repeat this fold on the second piece where the slit will be. Next, with the right sides together, align these pieces, ignoring the folds made previously. Stitch approximately 5-6 mm (3/16–1/5") from the seam (1 mm from the fold edge) until you reach the slit mark. Make a few backstitches at the slit marking to reinforce it. Press open the sewn section. From the wrong side, stitch along the seam, ensuring you catch the folds. When you reach the beginning of the slit, continue stitching by folding and finishing the edges. Repeat this on the sec

Patterns by PatternCos on Instagram: "Today I want to share with you a very simple tip to draft a nice bust dart on your tailored dress!! The basic shape of a dart in any sewing pattern is triangular. This is fine to get a basic starting pattern but the real body is shaped and if we want a nice fit in our garments we have to represent it well in our pattern. Just by curving the shape of your bust darts you can make your dress fit like a glove when you sew it 🤗"
