Historical Superhero Project
A project for any unit as a fun way for students to demonstrate their learning. Students show off their creativity in creating a superhero or villain out of a historical figure.They then create abilities, weaknesses, and an origin story based off of things they learned. Included are a template, official example and rubric, and 3 exemplary student examples.
Tip of the Week – Thought Bubbles on Photos
Use speech bubbles on famous/popular images to get students thinking and writing. This also is a great way to incorporate graphic novels into other subjects.

V for Vendetta - Eye Of The Psychic
V for Vendetta is a good example of a graphic novel that can be used in the classroom.
Graphic novels allow students to explore literature through a much different way than they are used to. Instead of using traditional literature, graphic novels allow for students to use technology as well as comic books to enhance their learning.
Theater review: Folger’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ has a tough cookie for a heroine
Have the class put on their own Romeo and Juliet play.
Have students read specific passages from the Romeo and Juliet play. Then assign students to get into groups and to compare the manga version from the Shakespeare version. After comparing, have students create a PowerPoint to demonstrate the differences.
