Victorian Sportswear

In 1884, sports costumes for tennis, archery, boating, shooting, and fishing began to form a distinct class in women's fashion. Prior to that, women athletes wore regular day dresses while playing golf or tennis, sometimes covering them with an apron or pinafore to protect from dirt and grass.
