This is probably one of my MOST asked questions. How did I lose my “mom pouch”? I worked to rehab my abs for 12 weeks. A huge part of my motivation was to get my abs back. However, having a weakened core postpartum actually leads to other problems such as: pelvic floor dysfunction, back pain, pelvic pain, and can lead to injuries. So yes, it’s great losing weight postpartum and I was VERY happy to get back to my postpartum weight, but I did really want to make sure that I was strengthening my core the right way so that I could happily train! Even though this isn’t my first rodeo, I still like to go “back to the basics” with my core activation exercise prior to starting my workout. Being that my abs will eventually separate as my tummy grows, I like to keep working my transverse abdominal muscles strong. This will help with pelvic floor pain as well as back pain. For those wondering, yes, I’ve been approved to workout from my doctor and have worked out for each of my pregnancies.
