    LOS SUSTANTIVOS CONTABLES
     Los sustantivos contables:

     Los sustantivos contables se utilizan para todo aquello


    que puede contabilizarse, es decir, contarse en
    unidades: one, two, three... y tienen tanto forma
    singular como plural. El artículo an/ a puede usarse con
    los sustantivos contables singulares.
    There is a table in the room. (Hay una mesa en la
    habitación).
    There is an orange in the fridge. (Hay una naranja en
    el frigorífico).

     No debemos utilizar el artículo an / a con sustantivos


    incontables.
    LOS SUSTANTIVOS CONTABLES E
    INCONTABLES
     Los sustantivos contables e incontables:
    Con los sustantivos incontables podemos utilizar tanto “some”
    como “any”, sin embargo hay algunas diferencias entre ellos. Por
    norma general “some” se utiliza en oraciones afirmativas con
    sustantivos incontables y con sustantivos plurales, mientras que
    any se puede utilizar con sustantivos contables e incontables en
    oraciones negativas e interrogativas.

    There is a lemon. Sustantivo contable singular.


    There are some bottles. Sustantivo contable plural.
    No there isn't any butter. Sustantivo incontable.
    Are there any students? Sustativo contable plural.
    HOW MUCH..? (INCONTABLE)
    HOW MANY..? (CONTABLE)
     How much? / How many?

     En Español ambas significan lo mismo


    (cuanto/cuantos/cuantas) y se utilizan para preguntar
    por la cantidad de algo, sin embargo para saber cuando
    debemos usar una u otra en el Inglés debemos tener en
    cuenta que “How many” se usa para sustantivos
    contables mientras que “How much” se usa para
    sustantivos incontables.
    HOW MUCH..? (INCONTABLE)
    HOW MANY..? (CONTABLE)
    How much milk is there? (¿Cuánta leche hay?).
    La leche es algo incontable.
    How much sugar do you want? (¿Cuánto azúcar
    quieres?)
    El azúcar es incontable.
     Sin embargo, un sustantivo incontable puede convertirse
    en contable al especificar una unidad de medida que
    permita contabilizar ese sustantivo.
    How many bricks of milk are there? (¿Cuántos bricks
    de leche ahí?).
    How many grams of sugar do you want? (¿Cuántos
    gramos de azúcar quieres?)
    HOW MUCH… IS THERE?
    HOW MANY… ARE THERE?
    No obstante, “How much” y “How many” se utilizan para diferentes
    expresiones; dependiendo del sustantivo, utilizaremos uno u otro.
    ● Para preguntar ¿Cuántos....tienes? Podemos hacerlo de la
    siguiente manera: How many friends do you have? How much
    milk do you have?

    ● Para preguntar ¿Cuántos....hay? Lo haremos de la siguiente


    manera: How many bottles are there? How much juice
    is there?

    ● La expresión How much..? también se utiliza para preguntar


    cuanto cuesta algo.
    How much does it cost? (¿Cuánto cuesta?).
    How much is this watch? (Cuánto vale ese reloj?).
    SUSTANTIVOS CONTABLES E
    INCONTABLES
     There is / There are:
     Las dos expresiones tienen el mismo significado, “hay”, y se
    utilizan para dar respuesta a las preguntas del tipo How
    much...?/ How many...? que hemos visto antes.
    ¿Cómo diferenciarlos?
     There is se utiliza exclusivamente para el singular mientras
    que There are se utiliza tan solo para el plural.
    There is a pencil on the table. (Hay un lápiz en la mesa).
    There are two dogs in the car. (Hay dos perros en el coche).
