verdad es que merece la pena contemplar esta impresionante obra de arte
completamente construida a base de nieve y hielo. Hasta el más mínimo detalle
está hecho de nieve y hielo, hasta donde tu vista puede alcanzar. Lámparas,
muebles, paredes, puertas… como una fantasía hecha realidad
Este atípico y totalmente efímero hotel, año con año renace de la nieve y se
vuelve una maravilla invernal. Hôtel de Glace ya es un ícono de Quebec y de todo
Canadá.

Quebec. Por 6 semanas, alrededor de 50 personas esculpen utilizando hielo y 30
mil toneladas de nieve para erigir esta maravillosa estructura inigualable.
Como ya imaginarás, no es un simple iglú, pues incluye en su interior todo tipo de

amenidades y comodidades para sus huéspedes como capillas, chimeneas,
habitaciones divinas, toboganes, bar y mucho más.
Algo que tal vez no esperaríamos es una zona de jacuzzi y sauna ¡pero lo
tiene! Lo más divertido del hotel es que cada año remodelan y cambian
completamente la decoración, empezando siempre desde cero, para presentar
cada año temáticas distintas. En el caso de este, tendrá una estética de circo para
el deleite de todos.
La historia del Hôtel Glace no es reciente. Jacques Desbois, su creador, inició su

investigación en 1996 en un viaje a Suecia para ver cómo hacían ahí los hoteles
de hielo. El diseño de Desbois es el único en su tipo en todo el continente. Desde
hace dos años tiene una alianza con el Hôtel Valcartier para erguir su estructura
en su propiedad.
Una obra notable de majestuosidad y fantasia

Fabricada totalmente de nieve y hielo, los plafones miden más de 5 metros de alto
y las paredes estan totalmente recubiertas de obras de arte. Los muebles y las
lámparas son esculpidos con mucha pericia, así como la nieve y el hielo

de hielo, pero en las habitaciones el frío es de lo último que debes preocuparte

fácil mantener el cuerpo caliente, el frío solo lo notarás en la nariz! Si no me crees
prueba a relajarte en una de sus suites, jacuzzis al aire libre, o incluso en sus
saunas. Su diseño no te dejará indiferente, con su alrededor de 11 mil toneladas
de nieve y 350 de hielo, brinda unas instalaciones de lo más innovadoras,
convirtiendo esta obra de arte en un lugar perfecto para alojarse, dos salones de
exposiciones, un majestuoso vestíbulo, un cine, una capilla, un gran salón de
recepciones, cabañas de madera, tina caliente y el célebre bar de hielo Absolut.

Con una superficie total de cerca de 3.000 m2 (27.000 pies2), el Hôtel de Glace
constituye uno de los más ambiciosos proyectos que nunca se han realizado en
Norteamérica. En total, se necesitan 11.000 toneladas de nieve y 350 toneladas
de hielo para su construcción, en la que se invierten 5 semanas.
Si quieres vivir una experiencia única y que perdurará por siempre, en contraste

Every December temperatures plummet, directly below zero, in Quebec. For 6 weeks,

The history of the Hôtel Glace is not recent. Jacques Desbois, its creator, began his
research in 1996 on a trip to Sweden to see how ice hotels were made there. The Desbois
design is the only one of its kind on the entire continent. For two years it has had an
alliance with the Hôtel Valcartier to erect its structure on its property.
