In the basic structure of a sentence in English, we have mentioned the concept of Time Expression. A Time Expression is any
kind of phrase related to time. For instance, we can find phrases mentioning hours, days, months, years, dates, parts of the
day or seasons of the year. (En una estructura básica de una oración en inglés, hemos mencionado el concepto de Expresión de
Tiempo. Una Expresión de Tiempo es cualquier tipo de frase relacionada con el tiempo. Por ejemplo, podemos encontrar frases
mencionando horas, días, meses, años, fechas, partes del día o estaciones del año.)
When we use the Present Simple for Daily Routines or for Expressing Likes & Dislikes, we can also mention the frequency in
which these activities are performed. (Cuando usamos el Presente Simple para las Rutinas Diarias o para Expresar Gustos &
Disgustos, podemos también mencionar la frecuencia en la que ocurren estas actividades.)
I play soccer every weekend. Yo juego fútbol todos los fines de semana.
My sister loves watching movies every night. Mi hermana ama ver películas todas las noches.
We enjoy going out every Saturday. Nosotros disfrutamos salir todos los sábados.
They practice sports once a week. Ellas practican deportes una vez a la semana.
My family and I go to Concepcion twice a year. Mi familia y yo vamos a Concepción dos veces al año.
Every sentence follows the structure we have learnt: (Cada oración sigue la estructura que hemos aprendido:)
As you can see, the Time Expression in all these examples is related to a SPECIFIC or DEFINITE FREQUENCY. In other
words, we can understand how many times the actions are performed. (Como puedes ver, la Expresión de Tiempo en todos estos
ejemplos está relacionada con una FRECUENCIA ESPECÍFICA O DEFINIDA. En otras palabras, podemos entender cuántas
veces ocurren las acciones.)
A FREQUENCY ADVERB is a type of word that we use to express frequency too. (Un ADVERBIO DE FRECUENCIA es un tipo
de palabra que usamos para expresar frecuencia también.)
But a FREQUENCY ADVERB expresses frequency without specific quantities, that is the reason why they are also known as
Adverbs of Indefinite Frequency, because frequence is not defined in numbers. (Pero un ADVERBIO DE FRECUENCIA
expresa frecuencia sin cantidades específicas, esa es la razón por la cual también son conocidos como Adverbios de Frecuencia
Indefinida, porque la frecuencia no está definida en números.)
Nonetheless, they express frequency in different ranges. The most commonly known are the following: (Sin embargo, expresan
frecuencia en rangos diferentes. Los más comúnmente conocidos son los siguientes:)

As you can see in the chart, we use each of
the FREQUENCY ADVERBS to express different rates of occurrence for the actions or activities we are talking about. (Como
puedes ver en el recuadro, usamos cada ADVERBIO DE FRECUENCIA para expresar diferentes porcentajes de ocurrencia de
las acciones o actividades de las que estamos hablando.)

What does each FREQUENCY ADVERB mean? (¿Qué significa cada uno de los ADVERBIOS DE FRECUENCIA?)

This means only a 50% of the times that she goes out, she goes out with her school friends, the rest of the times she may go

escuela, el resto de las veces sale con otros amigos o no sale.)
6.- We occasionally walk back home. Nosotros ocasionalmente caminamos de vuelta a casa.

between the SUBJECT and the VERB. (Si prestas atención a la estructura de las oraciones con un Adverbio de Frecuencia, te
darás cuenta de que deben estar ubicados entre el SUJETO y el VERBO.)
Except in the case of sentences with the verb BE. (Excepto en el caso de las oraciones con el verbo BE.)
Some of the Frequency Adverbs can be placed also in the beginning of the sentence. (Algunos Adverbios de Frecuencia pueden

school, I have to walk our dog, Tiger. Then I

me to school.
Q9. Classes start at nine sharp. I like Maths more than any other class, but I’m also good at Science and English. I have two
breaks, at eleven o’clock and at one o’clock. I always eat a sandwich and drink orange juice. I also enjoy playing with my school
friends in the playground. School finishes at half past three and my dad picks me up and we go back home in his car.
At home we have lunch together. After lunch, I play with my brother for a while and then I do homework and study. Twice a
week, I have a basketball practice. I love doing sports! Before dinner, I sometimes meet my friends and we go out or I watch

past nine, I go to the bathroom to have a shower, brush my teeth and put on my pajamas. Before I go to sleep, I always listen to
music on my MP3 player because it makes feel relaxed. Then I fall asleep and tomorrow will be a new day!
