Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen, and Candice Bergen have started production on the sequel to their 2018 comedy Book Club, with the quartet de-planing for a European getaway in a just-released first-look photo from the movie (below). Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen in 'Book Club 2'. Focus Features Book Club 2: The Next Chapter will follow the four returning women as they travel to Italy for a girls trip they never had, with things going "off the rails" thanks to hidden secrets coming to light, according to a synopsis from Focus Features. Joining the women are fellow Book Club stars Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, and Craig T. Nelson alongside new cast members Giancarlo Giannini, Hugh Quarshie, and Vincent Riotta. Bill Holderman is also returning as co-writer (with Erin Simms) and director of the project. Released in 2018, the first Book Club film united the Oscar-verified cast (Fonda, Keaton, and Steenburgen are Academy Award-winners, while Bergen has a nomination to her credit) as members of the titular circle, who find a life-changing narrative within the sexually charged Fifty Shades of Grey book series. "I'd love them to take their entire book club and go together and have fun and laugh. I'd love for men not to be afraid of it because it's fun and funny and there's some great male performances," Steenburgen previously told EW of the film, with Bergen adding: "And it gives [audiences] a way to get out of their lives and just have a very pleasant, fun, and touching two hours." A release date for Book Club 2: The Next Chapter has yet to be announced. See a first-look photo from the film above.
