Tori Spelling reveals Brian Austin Green told her she should 'abso-f---ing-lutely' go on Dancing With the Stars

The actress recalled Green telling her: "It's grueling. It's hard work. It's gonna be one of the best experiences of your life."

While multiple Beverly Hills, 90210 cast members made the jump to Dancing With the Stars over the years, Tori Spelling revealed that she only sought out advice from one former costar before signing on to the show’s upcoming 33rd season.

“The only one I told was Brian Austin Green, and I called him, and I was like, ‘Okay, what do you think?’ And he was like — in his words — ‘abso-f---ing-lutely,’” she told Entertainment Weekly at a press line for the series. “I was like, ‘Really?’ He's like, ‘It's grueling. It's hard work. It's gonna be one of the best experiences of your life.’”

Green competed on season 30 of Dancing With the Stars, where he and partner, now fiancée Sharna Burgess, finished in 13th place. Before him, fellow Beverly Hills alums Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, and the late Shannen Doherty also appeared on the show.

Spelling noted that she was texting Green about the show the night before its cast was unveiled live on Good Morning America. “I was like, ‘Tomorrow's the day. Like, everyone's gonna know,’” she recalled. “And he's like, ‘This is gonna be such an amazing experience for you, and I'm really proud of you.’”

The actress also made sure to get some advice from Burgess, who notably served as a pro on the series for 14 seasons.

“Sharna and I are good friends and I turned to her, and I was like, ‘You know me and my personality, and what I can and can't do, like, break it down,’” Spelling said. “She literally broke down all the dance pros, and who she thought — and she loves everybody — who she thought would be the best fit [for me], and she literally thought Pasha [Pashkov].”

And, as fate would have it, Pashkov was revealed to be her partner on the show. The pair had danced their way through two rehearsals prior to the press line — although Pashkov, admittedly, was a bit starstruck at first.

“The moment Tory walked in, I was like, ‘Oh, my God. I've literally had your face on my TV screen my entire childhood,’” he said. “I grew up in the ‘90s, so it was a surreal moment. Now it's crazy that we get to know each other. And on this show, you don't just get to know each other, you get to know each other, you know what I mean?”

He continued, “You go together through hours of grueling, hard work, ups and downs, mistakes, wins, losses — you go through everything, so you really get to know each other inside out. So honestly, it's kind of surreal to have just the character from TV and now get to know the person inside and out. It's amazing.”

The rehearsals also went well. “We started little by little, one day at a time, but we all have a premiere coming up in less than two weeks, so we don't have a choice but to push and get ready,” he added. “We’re gonna be able to dance in front of millions of viewers in less than two weeks!”

Pashkov also praised Spelling’s commitment to the series. “Tori has been so dedicated, so focused,” he said. “She has five kids, she has so much on her plate, but she shows up, and for those two hours, I have her full intention, her full commitment, all of her focus and attention there. So I couldn't ask for more.”

Dancing With the Stars season 33 will premiere Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
