Demanding an investigation of Meta

In April 2025, we filed a request for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Meta for violating kids’ safety and privacy on its VR platform “Horizon Worlds.” Our investigation found that kids under 13 risk sexual predation, financial harm, bullying, and harassment every time they log on. But even though Meta knows this, it continues to hoover up the children’s data in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

Our filing at the FTC was supported by a sworn statement from Meta whistleblower Kelly Stonelake, the former director of marketing for Horizon Worlds. With this request, we’ve taken a big step toward holding Mark Zuckerberg and co. accountable for harming kids.

Advocating for kids’ online safety

How 20 families are turning their pain into action

Fairplay and David’s Legacy Foundation created the initiative Parents for Safe Online Spaces, sharing the stories of families who lost their children to the most insidious social media harms perpetuated by Big Tech’s algorithms. Refusing the let any other families experience this devastating loss, these parents have forged together, urging lawmakers to pass KOSA— a bill that would make tech companies change their platforms and literally save kids’ lives.
