“When I was a kid, I used to beg my mom for a dog. Didn't matter what kind. I just wanted, you know, something to love. A dog's all I wanted. Well, that and toys. But mom was so busy, you know, enjoying the drinking and passing out parts of life, that I never really got what I wanted.”Parents/Childhood
Faith's mother was an alcoholic; her father, an Irish immigrant by the name of Patrick, liked to gamble and run with the Irish mob. By the time Faith's four year's old, he's serving time in prison for murder.TW; mentions of abuse (Though she doesn't want to talk about it.)
Faith was a victim of violence for most of her childhood. Her mother eventually became a prostitute who wasn't above using her daughter to settle her debts, though she resented any attention showed to Faith. Her mother also often blamed her for the state of their lives and seemed to take perverse pleasure in convincing her daughter no one could ever love her. A good deal of Faith's "no victim mentality" stems from the physical, emotional, mental and sexual abuse of her childhood.However, there were brief moments of sobriety in the early years where Faith's mom would read to her, and even called her "Firecracker". It was just enough to let Faith know what she was missing when her mother would return to frittering away her welfare cheque on booze and spending her evenings either passed out on the sofa or god-knows-where with whatever man paid her any attention.When Faith's mom did remember her daughter existed, it was often to savagely punish her for some imagined sin or slight. It amounted to a childhood of nothing but disappointments, pain, fear and broken promises until Faith taught herself to stop trusting anyone but herself, and to always expect the worst from people.
In a way, the brief moments of maternal care Faith did receive - The momentary tenderness and feeling of belonging, did nothing more than show Faith what she was missing in her life.Poverty/Education
Faith grew up in a lower class neighbourhood in government subsided housing/apartments. She was taken out of the home several times by Child Protective Services and there were a few attempts at foster care. (Faith would eventually run away) She spent time in a few group homes, and has a juvie record (sealed - Thank you.) She survived by whatever means necessary - Including petty crime and hustling cards/pool/darts.
That means there wasn't a lot of time for school - Not that anyone was encouraging Faith to attend, or helping her with her homework. When other kids were watching "Sesame Street", Faith was lucky if the TV worked, or if it did, the electricity was still on. School was a place Faith could grab a meal and get away from the chaos at home. She would go when she was younger, but by the time Faith entered high school she'd cut out with a group of neighbourhood kids and find something much more entertaining (and probably not legal) to do.
Faith does eventually get her GED - On the second try (in jail) but she does it voluntarily just to prove to herself she isn't the loser everyone thinks her to be.

Slayer
Faith was called to become a Slayer - The last of the original line and therefore, the TRUE Slayer, after the death of Kendra Young at the hands of Drucilla. She arrives on her own in Sunnydale which shows her own resilience and fortitude as her Watcher (Diana) was sadistically murdered in front of her. Becoming The Chosen One was the first real good thing to ever happen to Faith - To her, it was a way out of a life that ended one of two ways, hooked on something with a bunch of kids she didn't want, or dead. This was how she became SOMEONE. Faith never viewed her calling as a burden or a weight she was FORCED to carry, unlike her counterpart.Speaking of which, upon arriving in Sunnydale, it is apparent the Golden Slayer is not thrilled to share the spotlight. That's not the major rub for Faith though. What is, is the fact that the whole world seems to revolve around Buffy Summers, yet Sunnydale was supposed to be HER town - HER calling."YOU KNOW, I COME TO SUNNYDALE. I'M THE SLAYER. I DO MY JOB KICKING ASS BETTER THAN ANYONE. WHAT DO I HEAR ABOUT EVERYWHERE I GO? BUFFY.EVERYBODY ALWAYS ASKS, WHY CAN'T YOU BE MORE LIKE BUFFY? BUT DID ANYONE EVER ASK IF YOU COULD BE MORE LIKE ME?"Once again, Faith can see the life she is supposed to have but is denied by no fault of her own. Even the adults in Sunnydale, Giles, Wes, Joyce, all see her as having only one purpose - To keep Buffy alive and serve as a place holder so Little-Miss-Perfect can neglect her Slayer duties and run off to college and have the "normal life she deserves."Yet, not once does anyone ask if Faith is living the life she deserves.After the accidental murder of the deputy mayor, Faith immediately recognises the only person who can save her is herself. It's not that she doesn't feel guilt or remorse over what she has done, but to admit it would show weakness and that was an emotion Faith cannot afford to show. Her downward spiral leads her to her first REAL relationship in Sunnydale - With Mayor Richard Wilkins. While the founder, and mayor of Sunny D might be planning on devouring the town and all those in it, he feels GENUINE love and affection for Faith. It's probably the first time she's ever felt that in her entire life. Is it any wonder she'd do anything to hear him say he's proud of her?After that, there's the Watcher's Council trying to kill her, Wesley ruining Angel's initial attempt to save her and the showdown between Faith and Buffy that has Faith stabbed in the gut with her own knife and left to rot alone in a hospital basement in a coma for 8 months.That is the basic, background story. After that, things get a little more creative. In many crossover verses, Faith leaves Sunnydale at this point to head off on her own.

If Hell froze over, someone left it on a slow defrost. Faith managed to work with Buffy, Spike, the Scoobies and the Slayerettes to defeat the First, close the Hellmouth and keep another apocalypse from wiping out the world. Only, in the process, Sunnydale, Spike and quite a few others were not so lucky. Still, this was Sunnydale, standing or not, and from the ashes, the town would rise, and the demons would return. The town would need a Slayer and Faith was just about over playing an officer in Buffy's Slayer Army. After spending a year and a half at the Cleveland Hellmouth and returning from London, Faith catches wind of demonic activity beginning to migrate back to the source of where it all began - Good ol' Sunny D.
Now armed with the perfect excuse to separate herself from the rest of Buffy's Slayer Army, an older and wiser Faith returns to keep Hell's armies in check.

Now on her own, Faith's been travelling the country hunting demons and whatever else gets in her way, but after so long on her own, a girl needs to take a break... Put down roots for a bit, but still get her slay on. Enter the party metropolis of New Orleans and the quaint southern charm of the picturesque, Mystic Falls, Virginia. Both places Faith has made home base, revelling in all the mayhem and supernatural chaos these two places have to offer.

★The Vampire Diaries/The Originals/Crossover Verse**

After ensouling Angel once again, Faith returns to Sunnydale to help defeat The First Evil, but with that done and all the Potentials now called to power, Faith finds herself in a precarious position with Giles and the Scoobies once again. Angel was now running Wolfram and Hart back in LA, and the former Sunnydale gang, and an army of Slayers now led by Buffy, no longer trusted him. They have all turned their backs on their former ally and friend, a move initiated by Buffy of all people. This is something Faith will NOT do. Tensions continue to rise and a confrontation ensues. Faith must chose. Angel, or Buffy and the Slayers. Unwilling and unable to betray Angel, Faith's left to go be a part of Team Angel and Wolfram and Hart. She's there for the battle of LA, fighting by his side. After all, he's the only one never to give up on her, she's not about to give up on him when he needs her the most.

Screw the road to redemption, nothing feels better than not giving a damn.. Getting what you want and to HELL with the consequences. The world OWES her that much and nobody or nothing had better get in her way! This version of Faith turned away from redemption and embraced being "bad", taking it all the way. Warning Verse can be very dark. TW for blood, sex, violence.

After the fall of Sunnydale and the battle in LA, Faith's done being the "bad Slayer" needing to constantly prove herself to Buffy and the others and always falling short in their eyes. Setting out on her own, Faith's personal road to redemption and adventure has her discovering an entire new world and plenty to slay... HUNT, along the way - A hunter's world. No council. No weight-of-the-world-holier-than-thou attitudes. Just real people doing right, whatever that means. While criss-crossing the country Faith meets Dean and Sam Winchester and joins them on their mission to save people and hunt things.

AU where Faith is not a Slayer or a Hunter, not really. She's a bartender and trying to live life the right way, whatever that might mean. She's trying to live the apple pie life with more scars and baggage then an entire cellblock collectively own. Life's never been easy, or fair, for Faith, but you won't hear her complain- Sympathy is the last thing she wants from anybody. In fact, despite being the most popular bartender in the county, Faith is still very much on her own and alone. She eases some of that lonliness with the occasional drifter (since she's never felt deserving/worthy of more) or by kicking ass at darts, hustling pool and poker and out dancing anyone else on the floor. That doesn't mean Faith ignores when something is going bump in the night, but she's no longer looking to kick a hornets nest, but won't stand by and watch innocent people get hurt either.
