Am I the only one here that thinks David adopting Max is a terrible idea there’s no way he’s mentally stable enough to raise a bratty child that constantly tries to get in trouble

Honestly? Yeeeaaah… I like Dadvid as a concept and even in fanfiction, but I also like Max choosing to have David a father figure outside of his actual family cause feels more like his choice. He already has a dad, but he also sees David more as a parental substitute in a way despite them not being related.

Also, David doesn’t feel… emotionally well enough to raise a kid yet. There’s a difference between taking care of kids for the summer as a job and then going into adoption if we go off on what the series has shown upfront. He’s not OKAY mentally. And I feel like no matter how much he genuinely cares about Max would kind of add onto that? He already has to deal with taking care of a whole camp by himself which is definitely gonna cause a lot of stress + now he’s gotta raise a troublemaking foul-mouthed lil kid that barely listens to people and constantly tries to cause mischief.

Again I love Dadvid but it got layers of why it might not work either

As someone who was in their shoes as a kid, this is representation I didn’t know I needed.

I think it would be interesting if Dipper was the one between the two to take the Pines parents separation the hardest. Despite Mabel proving to be the hopeless romantic, and loves love so much. Dipper is also a crazy hopeless romantic, and we already know he had anxiety about this being a possibility. I can imagine he’d go home after that summer feeling super confident about being able to take anything that gets thrown at him and Mabel, only to have this situation still prove he still has growing to do.
