Pin a beetle with me!!! 🪲 this beauty is sooooo cool - its the ‘Argyrophegges kolbei’ (also known as Goliathus kolbei) beetle! it’s silver/black & reminds me of a disco ball :”) a simple little reel, I’ll be working on getting some ‘better’ footage - filming pinning is always SO awkward!! ps- yes my hands are dirty & covered in scratches!! ✨yum✨ want a bite? if you’re wondering why I’m submerging two moths in a random liquid, let me explain!! this process is called degreasing - I’m using acetone as a ‘bath’ for these specimens to prevent them leaking grease in the future. Larger bodied moths such as Saturniidae are prone to becoming greasy; which can potentially ruin any display they’re in. any questions?
