Lady Llanover ; IX - Cambrian costume of Gwent

Augusta Hall, Baroness Llanover (21 March 1802 – 17 January 1896). Better known as Lady Llanover commisioned a series of watercolour art pieces in the 1830's of South Wales costumes to use as templates for fancy dress parties. An early advocate to preserve the traditional Welsh costume, it is unlikely that her influence extended much beyond her aristocratic friends and family. The basics of what would later become the Welsh National costume can be seen.
