Walls Are Canvas

I can't say I with mounding and highly intricate boiserie along the walls and great colorful filigreed antique frames and vintage upcycled sort of 'shabby chic' frames all over the walls, why go 'out on a limb' with just one gallery focus wall when they all can be that way? Go bold or go home. I once had a boyfriend who said I 'lived in a habitat, not an apartment' and I always took that to be the best compliment, he knew me when I was young and in college, when it was accepted and even encouraged to be a bit outrageous. Maybe get our artistic energy out 'express ourselves' to find out 'who we are' before we settle down to a soul sucking and mind numbing job for the rest of our lives, buy a house in a cookie-cutter suburb and go ahead and adopt the values and esthetic collectively proscribed by the community standards of our neighbors. I never really was able to get it out of my system. If my home today isn't quite as outrageous and decorative as I would like it's because I've lived in nearly 20 houses/apartments in the last 15 years since I graduated and the effort of decorating every square inch of my home and bending the environment to my artistic vision through sheer will and DIY hacks to save $ and get a faux expensive look it's only because increasingly the overwhelming task of decorating, enjoying the environment for 8mo to 1year, dismantle long the display, packing it up, transporting to a temporary storage, transporting to the next 'home' and putting it all together again feels quite Sisyphusian task. No more! I'm determined to stay in this apartment (amazing amount of space for the price here in DC, one of the most expensive cities in the US) until we can either actually buy a home or move out of town. I will bring my desires to fruition and have the walls I've wanted. This is my inspiration board. Why limit ourselves to just one style or theme throughout the place?
