FAQs!

What is a zine?

A zine, or in this context a fanzine, is a collection of contents made by different artists and writers following a topic or theme!
In this particular zine we'll be focusing on the relationship post-canon between Stanford and Fiddleford through a shipping lens, with some insights from the past.

Can I apply?

Anyone that's interested in participating can apply, as long as you meet the age requirement; 15+ for contributors, 18+ for mods.
We are hoping to keep this as open as possible for anyone, so no previous zine experience is required.
Stating the obvious, this zine is Fiddauthor-focused, which means it's expected for contributors to like the pairing. We don't want "exclusivity" when it comes to participants, but I think it's reasonable to say you must at least like them quite a bit.

Is it free?

Yes! This is a free digital zine, and will be available for everyone that's interested no payments needed. Which means, there will be no monetary compensation for contributors, nor will it be available for purchase physically.

More Clarifications

Is this zine SFW?

Yes, this zine is Safe For Work. The only age restriction is that you must be 15 or older to apply as a contributor, and 18 or older in order to apply as a mod, purely due to online safety.

Will AU's be featured? + Will this be following a specific timeline of events?

This zine is going to take place in the canon universe, so no AUs this time!
For a more cohesive experience the scrapbook events will take place in chronological order, it will be up to the artists and writers to decide the events that happen, and the order of events will be through consensus between the participants the mods.

Can I apply for multiple positions or do multiple pieces?

Yes! Contributors can participate in more than one way, and elaborate more than one piece. A limit will be established later on, when we have a better idea of the dimensions.
We are looking to mainly integrate the art through polaroids in each page, accompanied by writing elements and many other details. You don't need to be a writer in order to add a small note providing context next to your art.

Will there be any physical rewards? + What is the likelihood of upgrading the zine to a physical copy?

We are afraid it’s very unlikely to upgrade or add any physical rewards, since that would involve a lot more planification (ordering, packaging, shipping) and more people involved. Unless someone steps in and comes with a solution to all our problems, it most likely won’t happen… So, for the time being, I don’t believe there is a chance of anything physical being produced and shipped.

How would I apply to become an artist for this zine?

Contributor Applications will open shortly after the Mod Applications, and will be open for a couple of weeks. You'll have to complete a google form, in the same way you've completed the interest check! The date will be set in the upcoming days.

How many contributors will be in the zine?

For now, a limit on the amount of contributors hasn’t been established. There is no official number, but if there were to be, it’d be close to the 100's given the responses in the interest check. We will be giving out more information once we begin the selection process.

Can I participate even if I don’t mainly draw Fiddauthor?

Since we are a Fiddauthor-focused zine, we appreciate Fiddauthor-focused people. We are not looking to exclude any possible contributors, but we’d much prefer to be able to find what we are looking for when we get to your profile. Having other ships as your main pairing might make you less likely to be picked, since people who have a track record of Fiddauthor-posting will be prioritized.

When will production start? + When will the deadline be?

We understand that everyone has different schedules and compromises! And we’d like to ensure everyone has the time to finish their respective pieces. We are afraid we can’t give a specific date just yet, but we are looking to start production during May and take a couple of months for the development, making the deadline sometime around the end of July.
A date will be better established for both the beginning of production and expected deadlines before the Contributor Applications are up.

More about the zine

This zine is formatted to look like a scrapbook, given to Ford and Fiddleford by Mabel on their wedding day with the intention that they fill it with memories :)Art elements will be in the form of photos, drawings, and decorations taped into the scrapbook, and written elements will be notes written in, as well as journal entries or letters taped in. Written entries will generally be in first person point of view.About 10-20% of the scrapbook's pages will be allotted to college-age Fiddauthor, and another 10-20% to the portal building era. We will be more selective with these sections– the rest of the pages are for post-canon, which could mean right after the events of the show all the way through the rest of their lives. The pages will also contain lots of additions by family and friends, be that through doodles, notes, or other means you come up with.

Our schedule

Since we are a free digital zine, the time duration of the process is expected to be shorter compared to a fully produced physical zine. Everything surrounding the timeline and deadlines will be quite flexible and subject to change, but as a general goal, we'd like to have most things ready by the end of July.
