Horrorween Day 29 / 31: Hatchet for the Honeymoon (1970) dir. Mario Bava
"My name is John Harrington. I'm 30 years old. I am a paranoiac. Hmph... "paranoiac". An enchanting word. So civilized, and full of possibilities. The truth is, I am completely mad... the realization which annoyed me at first, but is now amusing to me. Quite amusing. Nobody suspects I am a madman... a dangerous murderer. Not Mildred, my wife... nor the employees of my fashion center... nor, of course, my customers. Poor little fly. Why are you so daring? You're so fragile... and yet you're born, you reproduce yourself, and you die, like man. The difference is that you don't think, and you don't need to remember. You don't fear death because you ignore it. Your insignificant life is a mere biological accident. But death exists, I can assure you, and that's what makes life a ridiculous and brief drama. But the fact remains that I have killed five young women, three of whom are buried in the hothouse: Carol, Mary, Margaret. They were the friendliest, the most attractive ones. There is one problem. I must go on wielding the cleaver. It's most annoying. But when I begin to hear the footsteps... those stealthy footsteps... I know I must kill. And I shall have to keep on killing, until I find out the whole truth. That's it: until I find out the whole truth."
"Someday, I'll write a song. And she'll come begging to sing it."
My Gal Sal (1942) dir. Irving Cummings || Costume Design by Gwen Wakeling
When Vic Damone spotted Lana Turner in the audience during one of her trips to Las Vegas, he introduced her to the showgoers- who gave her a standing ovation. Damone then related how, in the 1940s, he was at the MGM lot and, seeing her walk across the street, became so taken with Lana's beauty that he drove his car into a wall. Taylor Pero, personal manager to Lana, was at that same event and summed up her "indisputable beauty" by saying: "If looks were benedictions, Lana would have been the most blessed creature on earth."

"She demands the things to which she knows she has the right, and will ask for no more until she knows with all sincerity she is worthy of it. When she meets with disappointment she has a tendency towards bitterness rather than remorse, which no doubt, is a throwback from an acute memory of less happy days. She is extremely sensitive to surroundings and instantly conscious of any discord…she is intolerant of people's weaknesses. Jealousy is not in her make-up, but she resents those who have become successful without serving the same trying apprenticeship that she herself experienced." -Douglas Fairbanks Junior
