Roles bring structure, and a better division of tasks to cover all the needs of the project. None of these roles are expected to be taken by only one person, you will be working on a team and we are expecting for it to be a highly collaborative experience.
As an Art or Writing Mod, you will be in charge of giving guidance to contributors, managing the check-in's, making sure the guidelines are being followed, and compromising to give feedback to the submitted prompts and in-progress pieces. As a Writing Mod, you will also be expected to read through the pieces potential contributors send, participating in the selection process. As an Editor, you will work alongside with both writing and formatting mods. An editor should make sure the content is coherent and cohesive, beta-reading through the different works and finished product to ensure a good narrative flow and use of language.
Since our theme is a scrapbook, editors will be responsible for the general "timeline" of events, which is really important for the assembling of the final product.
As a Graphics Mod, you should be able to set up a series of templates for the zine to use in promotional material. Such as headers, announcements, contributor features, etc.
Handling these graphic elements in order to give the zine a distinct, recognizable look.
A Graphics Mod can work both in the contents of the zine, or with the social media.
As a Formatting Mod, you’ll be in charge of laying out the zine, assembling it by putting together the content provided by the contributors. A format mod should have access and knowledge working with publishing software, in our case InDesign.
