Side note: I’ve actually been doing this for many years, but I just never thought it would be “exciting enough” to post about. I quickly realized I was wrong! So here we go. Emily Chen on Instagram: "Why yes. Yes it can be done on dark hair too 🤎 Think of permanent color as a full coverage lipstick, and demi color as tinted lipgloss. Or painted cabinets vs stained cabinets. Permanent color will give you the heaviest coverage, but it’ll also give you the most dramatic regrowth line. Demi offers less coverage, but a more subtle & graceful growout. My client here was sick of having to color her regrowth every 4 weeks, but she wasn’t ready to go full-on grey. Our goal was to get her to a level 6 demi base so that she’s able to stretch her regrowth maintenance visits to 6-8 weeks.
