Is this a shag or a layered haircut? | hairstyle | Is this a shag or a layered haircut? | By Free Salon Education | Alright, guys. So, we're going to start off by figuring out where we want to section off the fringe. So, you saw me place my comb right on the forehead area. I'm just balancing it. Looking to see where that curve happens. When it starts to curve up towards that crown area, that's where I'm going to draw my triangle so you can see I take that triangle out of the front and then I clip that away. I use a nice light clip in the mid shaft area. It's much easier when you're doing dry cutting to get a crease out of the mid shaft area than it is to get it out of the base. So, I clip it just nice and low there. Then I take a circle section out of the crown. You can see me take that. I'll twist it up out of the way and then I'll clip it. Now, the the last little bit, I don't want to section too much with dry hair. So, now, I'm just going to start my cutting vertical section straight down center back. I'm going to do a point-cutting technique. You can see the shortness in that layer. So, I just elevate the hair nice and high. I look at the length which is at the bottom part of my finger and then, I just go into a deep point cut, real jagged edge because what I'm trying to do is create a nice softness to the line. So, instead of going through cutting a blunt line, I that choppiness that creates soft feel in this haircut. I'm following the round of the head so we're just going to work our way around all the way around to the temple doing the same exact thing on both sides. So, we'll continue doing that and then we'll start on the next section. Okay, so now looking at both sides, you can see those layers like really building up and you can see the length that's on the opposite side that we haven't cut yet. Just look at the difference in that shape. So, now we're going to go through and we're going to do the same type of layering, elevating everything up in the air, deep point cut all the way around the head. Alright, so now we've completed the layers all the way around the head. You could see all that movement. This haircut's really turning out cool. Now, what I'm going to do is I'm going to go through the top section. Pretty simple. I take the entire crown and I pull it over the fringe area and I grab a guide from the back. So, that's the length that I'm going to cut it so it connects in the back and I go through and I do a deep point cut to cut my line and I keep working that til I get a full clean line through and then I go through and I fan it with my fingers. So, I put it in my fingers I bend my finger to fan it out and then I go through and point cut nice and deep to take away some of that density in this cut make it nice and light so you can see that short to long layering that we created by over directing everything forward so you can see longer length in the back connects into the back and you got the shorter pieces in the front layers exploding everywhere already hope you guys are enjoying this now we've got the fringe fringe is pretty simple break it into two parts center parting bring one piece over to you and twist it in your fingers towards yourself and point cut through it. What the twisting is going to do is give you a little extra over direction, little extra safety net. The point cutting is going to make it nice and soft so you get the two things that are going to help work in your favor and then we're going to go through and we're going to slide cut it to blend it right now. So, take a vertical section, pull everything in front of the face. Use your guideline from the fringe and just half close that scissors, slide it down and work your way through. So, it's a half close of the scissor or my way down the hair shaft. So those of you guys wondering, I'm using the Misotani Puffin Dry Cutting Scissor. It's a five and a half inch scissor. It's my favorite one. We have it available on Shop FSC. com. So, if you're looking for a new scissor, we have payment plans available as well. So, go check it out on there. Now, we finish up the fringe. So, what I do is just grab some individual pieces, a little bit of tease cutting. So, half close of the scissor, hold out those pieces and I'm going to finish it up light hairspray, added in a little bit of texture spray and you can see how It comes off the face, opens up the face, nice little fringe area as well. Tons of layers. Hope you guys like it. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

Mid Length Hair with Layers and Curtain Bangs | Hair Tutorial | Mid Length Hair with Layers and Curtain Bangs | Hair Tutorial | By Matt Beck | So we're going to start off today's video by taking a center parting so we're just going to work our way right down to the crown and then I'm going to find where the head starts to curve right in the fringe area and that's where I'm going to draw my triangle right straight down the hairline so notice I look for that hairline because I'm looking to work with similar density throughout the entire cut I twist up that triangle clip it out of the way that's literally going to be the only section that we really take throughout this whole cut so it's going to be pretty simple in that aspect so now I'm going to add in a palm neuroprime. It's a nice blow dry primer. It's got a nice medium light hold. Uh I put it in the hair, helps protect it from heat. So, I'll put it in there. It helps control the hair while I cut it and then it helps with protecting the hair when I blow it dry. So, to start this hair cut off, we're going to work on the left hand side of the head and basically what I'm going to do is I'm going to work my way back this entire section until I get to where the hairline starts to drop into the nape into the back of the head right behind the ear. So, working off the curve of the head, I really want create almost a concave feel to the sides of the cut. Nice short layers skinnying up the bottom and just creating layers that really fall nice around the ear and then remove that weight from around the sides. I'm also taking some density away from the outer perimeter of the cut which we're going to cut at the very end. So, few different techniques we're going to throw into this and things I think you'll find very valuable in the salon as you're working. So, notice I didn't start this haircut by cutting the I'm really working on the interior shape first. So, everything is getting elevated up. I'm going to create layers that push off of the face. The way that you do that is you cut the hair towards the face. So, I'm over directing everything over that very first section. So, it becomes a stationary guide taking vertical partings and pushing the hair. You can see I'm pushing it right over top of that first parting that I took, that first section that I took. So, everything's going to to set one. I'll continue that cut all the way back to just behind the ear where that hairline starts to drop that's where I'm going to change things up so notice I'm going back to that point that's because the density is all the same in that section it's really important as hairdressers and those of you guys that are getting more into advanced hair cutting or even in school just to understand the different densities that you're working within the hair what is the formation of the hair how much hair you're working with where how does the hairline flow because you look at the hairline that's going to determine the outer perimeter of that cut and kind of the density throughout it so the sides I'm cutting both the same so now we're working on the right hand side the only difference is you always want to free up that bottom that elbow when you're cutting concave shapes so I'm standing in front of the head pulling everything to me which tends to be a little bit easier anyways because you're pulling it towards yourself anytime you're pushing away it gets a little bit harder to stay consistent So notice it's just a straight line across. Somebody in the comments is going to say something about me wearing black clothes in dark hair. Uh it's okay. Look at my fingers. Look at the angle. You can still see the hair if you look at it. There's a couple highlights that pop through in there. But just look at my finger angle. That's what you need to be judging. That's the most important part. You can see my hands very clearly in this video. So all the way parallel to the floor is how my fingers are working across. That's the cutting line that we're creating. So go all the way back to where that hairline starts to drop in the back and that's where I'm going to stop on the sides. So, because I'm over directing everything to the front, all of those layers are starting to get longer towards the back and that's really the goal. Uh you also have to look at the head shape. The head shape is curving a lot in the back of the head. So, it curves not only in the crown area but then around the occipital bone as well. So, I'm now not going to cut concave and I'm going to work just a straight line still parallel with the floor across and I'm going to cut square more square layers or balanced layers in the back. So, my guide is now going to be traveling. It's not going to be stationary. So, I'm going to cut my first section I'm going to work my way across that way. So you'll see everything's over directed straight up and we're going to hit the over top angle so you can see that everything is just coming back to that previous section so we're traveling across the back of the head creating a balanced line horizontally and vertically. See, I grab a little bit of the old and then bring in the new. I'm working my way all the way over to that hairline. Everything coming straight up, parallel to the floor, straight up in the air. Now, if I had a guest that had a higher density of hair and I really want to remove some extra weight. I could even shift my finger angle even a little bit more in this and cut more concave layers in the back. Uh that would take out some more weight if she had high density then maybe I would go in with some point cutting instead of cutting a blunt line that tends to take out a little bit more weight. So, there's different options based on the density of your client's hair. So in this last section you'll notice there wasn't anything to cut so I move on now we're going to go into the fringe so what I want to do is cut a nice open kind of curtain fringe if you if you want to call it that so what I'm going to do is I'm going to work with a little bit of elevation I'm going to work with vertical partings one little tip and this something I learned from Richard Manna I believe he cuts the length so notice that I'm checking where I want my guide to be then I have a ton of hair so what I'm going to do is cut the bulk of it off first then I'm going to go in and point cut a line and I'll show you guys that again so you can see it but I go in and I point cut because I want to create a nice soft feel so I cut the blunt line for my length then I go in with point cutting little bit of deeper point cutting but here's the tip right here so as I comb the hair over I've got a lot of hair in my hand so in order to control it I cut the bulk of it off first I don't go all the way to the guide I can still see my guide underneath and then I go in and I point cut that length to match my guide so what that's is just allowing me to control the hair a little bit better I thought that was such a cool tip anytime I'm around a different hairdresser that I haven't worked with before I always try to grab something from them that I can bring into what I do and that was one thing that I really thought was cool is just being able to control that hair because sometimes when we're hairdressers when we go in to cut that long hair that's over our fingers it's challenging and it gets in the way so just take that bulk off then go in and cut your lines however you'd like so the last bit wanted this to be a medium-length haircut so we cut some shorter layers in there cut the interior part and now we're going in cutting the exterior the perimeter line want it to be a little bit more of a blunt feel nice solid line so I'm just cutting everything at that one length and the layers will kind of come to life from there so cutting off making sure all the hair looks nice and healthy as we work through it and this is a great medium length cut for your guest so now I'm going to blow it dry I'm going to Paul Mitchell Lift we're going to do some color real quick too because what I want to do is I want to play around with Paul Mitchell sent me their new VG series I used it in a past video to make a blonde but they have a level 5 and I was like well if it's a violet gold then what does it look like at a level five so thought I put this all over the head and get a really nice idea for what that tone looks like thought you guys might find that interesting as well so we're going to deepener to a level five now definitely 1 thing I've noticed about this color is that it's got like kind of an iridescent feel so when it hits the light you get different shades from it it's it's a VG which you would think is violet gold but it's a neutral base so with a violet kind of overcast so I really love the violet tones that come through on it you're going to see it in the end result but that was kind of one of my favorite things about this color because you're always looking for a nice violet but that looks natural that kind of has that natural under tone to it and a lot of them are kind of fantasy color looking. So, this one to me just has that violet hue, that richness to it but still violet which I really really love and I think you guys will love in the salon as well. So, check that out on Paul Mitchell. com and that's it. I hope you guys like the cut. You can see the layers. You can see the the opened up curtain face frame fringe. Uh I hope you guys like it. Subscribe to our YouTube channel on Free Salon Education Everything and also our Instagram. Thank you guys so much watching. Can't wait to share another video with you guys. It'll be coming soon. Thanks.

How To Fix Damaged Hair with a Haircut | How To Fix Damaged Hair with a Haircut 😍 What do you think? Please share with your friends 🙏 | By Free Salon Education | What's up, guys? Welcome to today's video. Today, we're going to be going over what we're calling the bartender's bob. What that basically means is it's a bob for anybody that wants to pull their hair back when they want to and then they can wear it down when they want to do that as well. So, sectioning for this cut, super simple. We're going to do this haircut dry because I really want to see her ends. You saw at the very beginning at the before that her ends are really shattered and weak. So, I wanted to get to the strong point of this cut will go over in a second so the sectioning I separate the front and back just behind the ear and then I separate straight down the center back and then we're going to draw horizontal line right across that occipital bone area to behind the ear and that's where we're going to cut our first cut so I'll section that up we'll do the same thing on the left side and then this is where I want to determine that weakness that happens from that mid shaft to ends you can see how see through it is as I get closer to the end so I kind of pull up a section and determine what that length is that I want and I go in with comb tension and I just hold that down and cut my line using my comb as a guide now I'm going to cut a balance back if you don't know what a balance shape is you should go to shopfsee. com and download my FSE digital hair cutting system I'll link it below in the description but that will give you all the terminology everything that I use in a haircut you'll really be able to follow along well once you learn that system so go download that at shop FSE. com. So, once we get our baseline cut. Now, I'm going to start working vertical layering into this haircut. I want to create a ton of texture movement. I want to get into that interior and really remove some of that length so I can get a nice, healthy result. So, I elevate everything straight out from the head using the below section that we cut at a low elevation as my guideline and then just layering from that. So, I'm using a point-cutting technique with that's going to do is it's going to help shatter the ends a little bit just because I'm trying to make the hair healthy doesn't mean I don't want the texture and the soft edges so I go in you'll see me sometimes twist my hand and do a little bit more of a blunt cut but then I always go through and break that up with point cutting also when you over direct everything straight back it pushes length to that right side corner so you saw me go through and after I cut the section I'll actually lay the hair and then recut that line in the base. Um this is just because I don't want too much length going towards the front and it's also a great way to build up a little extra density with somebody that has fine hair towards the shoulders. So, everything I'm bringing back just pushes some length behind the ear and then I go in and I cut that at a no elevation kind of low on along the shoulder right here. You'll see me cut that corner off that I just created with the haircut. Using the underneath as a guide. So, we'll just continue that exact same thing bring everything straight up from the head all the way through the back and then we'll move into the front Now, you can see as we finish up the back, how healthy it's looking. Um I just want to continue keeping that line in the back and then also creating a little more texture. So, the way that I'm going to texturize the top is I'm going to take a horizontal section across the crown and then pull that up, elevate it straight up in the air and point cut into it just to add a little extra flare texture to the back of the haircut and now we'll move in to the side of the cut. Continuing those horizontal sections or horizontal partings in a side and I'm just going to connect the front and back for a baseline that's going to give me a little bit harder line at the base and then I'm going to elevate everything else from that point so bring everything up in the air use that bottom as a guideline so I know that my length is true and I just hold it up in the air and point cut it all the way through that top section of the haircut now we're going to do the same thing on the left hand side as we did on the right so a horizontal parting across the back cut your baseline get a nice solid baseline in there and then we'll elevate everything else up and cut that with a point cutting technique to get a little bit of texture and add some layering into it so you can see I just pull everything up across over top of the parting this is another key part of this haircut make sure you overdirect everything over the parting and that will give you a nice to the look. Now, I'm just going to clean up the fringe, add a little bit of a side fringe to it. Um if you wanted to do a center center fringe, you could do that as well but she already had a side fringe and we're going to stick to that. Now, we're going to style it, use a little bit of wand iron, add that texture, really show off the texture in the cut. You could see how beautiful it looks, how much healthier it looks. Look how you can pull it up that creates the bartender Bob right there. We let it back out. Look at that texture. She super happy. I hope you guys like it. Let me know in the comments below. Make sure you're asking your questions and I'll see you guys on the next video. Thanks. What's up, guys? Matt Beck here.
