in his first ever story, the brigadier tries to shoot a bunch of monsters that are completely unbulletable, and continues long past the point where it's obvious guns won't work. he goes on to do this in for more or less the rest of his time in the show where guns and unbulletable aliens appear. never change, brigadier, never change.
Survival is where the Doctor and the Master must fight their primal urges to stop a planet asploding. These primal urges make them roll about on top of each other in the desert heat, valiantly thrusting against each other in an orgy of emotion.
The Ace/Karra plotline establishes there is Homosexuality happening if you turn into a catperson. I am left unsure of how else to interpret the Doctor/Master stuff in the story. Plus it’s the Master seeking the Doctor out to fuck I meankill him once and for all.

No one can top this kind of nonsense played serious. The phallic time detector. The lovable 70's effects. Jon Pertwee delivering lines as serious as a heart attack.
"We're seeing through the TOMTIT gap into the time vortex" is the exact kind of line you'd expect from the show and I love it.

the third doctor's evolution is really something, he starts off as a persnickety and understandably abrasive arsehole who divides people into Liz and Not Liz and treats anyone who is Not Liz as if they are his mortal enemy, but by the time planet of the spiders rolls around he's casually taking the brigadier out on dates and ultimately comes back to unit so he can die at home surrounded by friends
