We’re moving to adopt two channels for releases: “mainline” being the true tip of Coder versions, and “stable” being the latest release on which we promise reliability. This functionality follows Ubuntu releases (but without LTS) and Nginx OSS releases (identically).
We will continue to cut releases from main, branding the true edge release as “mainline.” This will be the default installation route. We’ll indicate our latest “stable” release tag by assigning it the latest label in Github once it has been available for two weeks AND hosts ≥30% of our DAUs in Nexus. We will always have one release marked “stable”, and it may point to the latest version.
For more information, please read the RFC in notion.
