Release Notes

psf/black (black)

v24.10.0

Compare Source

Highlights
  • Black is now officially tested with Python 3.13 and provides Python 3.13
    mypyc-compiled wheels. (#4436) (#4449)
  • Black will issue an error when used with Python 3.12.5, due to an upstream memory
safety issue in Python 3.12.5 that can cause Black's AST safety checks to fail. Please
use Python 3.12.6 or Python 3.12.4 instead. (#4447)
  • Black no longer supports running with Python 3.8 (#4452)
Stable style
  • Fix crashes involving comments in parenthesised return types or X | Y style unions.
    (#4453)
  • Fix skipping Jupyter cells with unknown %% magic (#4462)
Preview style
  • Fix type annotation spacing between * and more complex type variable tuple (i.e. def fn(*args: *tuple[*Ts, T]) -> None: pass) (#4440)
Caching
  • Fix bug where the cache was shared between runs with and without --unstable (#4466)
Packaging
  • Upgrade version of mypyc used to 1.12 beta (#4450) (#4449)
  • blackd now requires a newer version of aiohttp. (#4451)
Output
  • Added Python target version information on parse error (#4378)
  • Add information about Black version to internal error messages (#4457)

v24.8.0

Compare Source

Stable style
  • Fix crash when # fmt: off is used before a closing parenthesis or bracket. (#4363)
Packaging
  • Packaging metadata updated: docs are explictly linked, the issue tracker is now also
linked. This improves the PyPI listing for Black. (#4345)
Parser
  • Fix regression where Black failed to parse a multiline f-string containing another
    multiline string (#4339)
  • Fix regression where Black failed to parse an escaped single quote inside an f-string
    (#4401)
  • Fix bug with Black incorrectly parsing empty lines with a backslash (#4343)
  • Fix bugs with Black's tokenizer not handling \{ inside f-strings very well (#4422)
  • Fix incorrect line numbers in the tokenizer for certain tokens within f-strings
    (#4423)
Performance
  • Improve performance when a large directory is listed in .gitignore (#4415)
Blackd
  • Fix blackd (and all extras installs) for docker container (#4357)
googleapis/python-datastore (google-cloud-datastore)

pytest 8.3.3 (2024-09-09)

Bug fixes

  • #12446: Avoid calling @property (and other instance descriptors) during fixture discovery -- by asottile{.interpreted-text role="user"}

  • #12659: Fixed the issue of not displaying assertion failure differences when using the parameter --import-mode=importlib in pytest>=8.1.

  • #12667: Fixed a regression where type change in [ExceptionInfo.errisinstance]{.title-ref} caused [mypy]{.title-ref} to fail.

  • #12744: Fixed typing compatibility with Python 3.9 or less -- replaced [typing.Self]{.title-ref} with [typing_extensions.Self]{.title-ref} -- by Avasam{.interpreted-text role="user"}

  • #12745: Fixed an issue with backslashes being incorrectly converted in nodeid paths on Windows, ensuring consistent path handling across environments.

  • #6682: Fixed bug where the verbosity levels where not being respected when printing the "msg" part of failed assertion (as in assert condition, msg).

  • #9422: Fix bug where disabling the terminal plugin via -p no:terminal would cause crashes related to missing the verbose option.

    -- by GTowers1{.interpreted-text role="user"}

Improved documentation

  • #12663: Clarify that the [pytest_deselected]{.title-ref} hook should be called from [pytest_collection_modifyitems]{.title-ref} hook implementations when items are deselected.
  • #12678: Remove erroneous quotes from [tmp_path_retention_policy]{.title-ref} example in docs.

Miscellaneous internal changes

  • #12769: Fix typos discovered by codespell and add codespell to pre-commit hooks.

v8.3.0

Compare Source

pytest-dev/pytest-asyncio (pytest-asyncio)

v0.24.0: pytest-asyncio 0.24.0

Compare Source

0.24.0 (2024-08-22)
  • BREAKING: Updated minimum supported pytest version to v8.2.0
  • Adds an optional loop_scope keyword argument to pytest.mark.asyncio. This argument controls which event loop is used to run the marked async test. #706, #871
  • Deprecates the optional scope keyword argument to pytest.mark.asyncio for API consistency with pytest_asyncio.fixture. Users are encouraged to use the loop_scope keyword argument, which does exactly the same.
  • Raises an error when passing scope or loop_scope as a positional argument to @pytest.mark.asyncio. #812
  • Fixes a bug that caused module-scoped async fixtures to fail when reused in other modules #862 #668

v0.23.8: pytest-asyncio 0.23.8

Compare Source

0.23.8 (2024-07-17)

  • Fixes a bug that caused duplicate markers in async tests #813

Known issues

As of v0.23, pytest-asyncio attaches an asyncio event loop to each item of the test suite (i.e. session, packages, modules, classes, functions) and allows tests to be run in those loops when marked accordingly. Pytest-asyncio currently assumes that async fixture scope is correlated with the new event loop scope. This prevents fixtures from being evaluated independently from the event loop scope and breaks some existing test suites (see #706). For example, a test suite may require all fixtures and tests to run in the same event loop, but have async fixtures that are set up and torn down for each module. If you're affected by this issue, please continue using the v0.21 release, until it is resolved.
