The default parameters are incorrectly included on a super call.

def  _render(force = false, options = {}) 
  super
end

This generates

_render(force = false, options = {}) {
  super._render(force = false, options = {});
}

Clearly, that's not a good result! It should be -

_render(force = false, options = {}) {
  super._render(force, options);
}
