We should honestly try to get rid of this server version detection. As far as I can tell, we're using it to filter out ancient database platforms:

  • Microsoft SQL Server before 2008
  • Postgres before 9.5 (released in Jan 2016, EOL since Feb 2021)

FWIW, both platforms are not supported by DBAL 4.
