Save My Elderly Mother: Evacuation from Gaza

My name is Azhar Freij, and I live in Belgium. I am a homemaker, and I find myself in a desperate situation, unable to secure the necessary funds to save my mother. My 85-year-old mother, Latifa, is ill, bedridden, and suffering from severe heart conditions and numerous other health issues. Since the devastating events of October 7th, our lives have been shattered. Our home in northern Gaza was destroyed, forcing us to live in a makeshift tent.

The harsh conditions in the tent are unbearable for my frail mother. She needs constant medical attention and care, which is impossible to provide in our current situation. Since the collapse of the healthcare system in Gaza, she has been unable to access her essential medications.

The ongoing conflict has left us with no other option but to evacuate her to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing. However, the cost of this journey is $6,000, a sum that I cannot afford. Rafah is no longer safe, and we cannot move her anywhere within Gaza.

It breaks my heart to see my mother suffer so much. She has endured unimaginable hardships, and each day in this war-torn area brings new fears and challenges. I am reaching out to you with a plea for help. Your generous donation can provide my mother with the chance to live her remaining years in safety and dignity.
