Hussam Lost Everything—Now He’s Fighting to Save What’s Left

In a single moment, Hussam Al-Bardawil’s life was shattered. Once a young man with simple dreams of building a better future for his family, Hussam now sits in a small tent, staring into the distance, after an airstrike destroyed his home—taking with it his parents, all his siblings, and every hope he once held.

But he wasn’t left completely alone. Two of his nieces survived, and they are now all he has left in this world.

Hussam lived with his family in a modest home in Gaza. He worked alongside his father, striving each day to provide for their loved ones. They had dreams—small but beautiful dreams—of a better life. Then the war came and took everything: his family, his home, his peace. All that remains are faded memories, a few tattered clothes, and photos buried beneath the rubble.

Today, Hussam lives in a tent, doing his best to care for the two children now in his custody. He has no home, no income, and no support—only the weight of unimaginable grief and the responsibility of two young lives. Despite his deep emotional wounds and trauma, he fights every single day to keep them safe and fed.
