A buffet setup is best for large gatherings and if there is a relaxed start time, and if it an open house style. I always have a buffet set up even when I set that table because the food needs to go somewhere. We use my kitchen island because we don’t have a formal dining room (our 1952 home had a wall but it was knocked down). It makes for a great open entertaining space.
