Scottish Oak Orkney Chair
A large early 20th century oak framed Scottish Orkney chair. The back is constructed from black oat straw and bent grass, bound together with cord made from twisted bent grass. The back is almost straight for around 20 rows of straw weave before it curves smoothly out to create a comfortable supportive seat. The chair has an oak and straw weave seat and the lower frame is also made of oak. The four square legs have under stretchers between them to stabilise the chair and all have tight pegged joints. The Orkney chair has developed through local island tradition, most likely originating from a humble piece of furniture that the islanders could make for themselves with local materials that were readily available. Edwardian Mahogany Bedroom Chair An early 20th century Edwardian mahogany bedroom chair. The chair back has a domed top rail and three vertical rails that are all decorated with box wood line inlays. The four legs are square and tapering and the chair has a fixed upholstered pad seat. The chair is solid mahogany and in good order, the upholstery is not original. Set of Eight Georgian Mahogany Chairs
A set of eight George III period mahogany chairs. The set of chairs comprises six single chairs and two elbow chairs. The chairs have a broad curved top rail that has an incised reed and scroll decoration and a raised panel in the centre. The middle rail has an oval centre panel held by four curved mahogany supports. The front legs are tapering and turned and the back legs are square and kick out. The chairs have drop in pad seats that are covered with a used contemporary material. The pair of elbow chairs have long arms that curve under at the hand rests, have a reeded detail and concave supports. Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Chair
A late 20th century Elizabeth II 'Silver Jubilee' chair of 'Heads of Wycombe'. The chair is upholstered in a royal blue velvet type of material with a gold braided trim and has a light brown wash finish to the wood. The back rest of the chair has an embroidered Royal emblem of a crown over EIIR Silver Jubilee 1952-1977. The chair is in good condition with some slight wear. A set of eight mid 19th century Victorian rosewood dining chairs. The chairs have a kidney shaped back and a scroll carved centre cross rail. The front legs are turned and carved rosewood and the back legs are square and kick out. The chairs have drop in pad seats that are upholstered in a green coloured material. This stylish coffee table has a wonderful rosewood top with a disguised drawer at one end and a tray extension at the opposite end. The table is in very good condition. Pair of Leather Two Seat Settees
A pair of late 20th century tan coloured leather two seat settees by Halo. These used settees with a slightly worn look have a pair of cushion seats, a long cushion back and arm rests that are all fixed in a leather covered oblong frame. The settees have square, leather covered tapering legs and the back edge has a "Halo" maker's label. Edwardian Oak Desk Chair An early 20th century oak revolving desk arm chair. The chair has a 13 convex bar back, a concave top rail, a padded seat and shaped arm rests. The base has four splayed legs with a metal centre support that allows the chair to turn and spring back. The chair is in very good condition. George IV Gillows Design Chair
A George IV mahogany single chair in a Gillows of Lancaster design. The heavy quality chair is of large proportions with turned and reeded legs to the front and carved and fluted legs to the back. The chair has a stuff-over upholstered seat covered in a worn green coloured material. This solid quality chair is in good condition, the same chair can be seen in the book "Gillows of Lancaster & London 1730-1840" page 221 plate 204. Victorian Rosewood Prayer Chair
A fine example of a 19th century Victorian prayer chair or 'Prie Dieu' chair. The chair has the best quality carved rosewood frame and cabriole shaped front legs. The chair is covered in a beautiful needlework upholstery which is in immaculate condition. The chair is in very good condition with a couple of old wood worm holes in the back of the frame that are long dead and have been re-treated. A set of four George IV rosewood Gillows of Lancaster design chairs. The chairs are very high quality made from solid rosewood apart from the front and back rails. The top rail has scroll and acanthus decorations to both ends and the centre rail is lappet carved and has a centre carved patera.
