I wanted to come up with a project where we could be playing with glass while our ceramic forms are drying/firing, and came up with using kiln blankets as forms. This orange glass from @bullseyeglass is a striker, meaning its color changes when fired. I was using old scraps, so I expected it to be yellow but instead got this vibrant jello orange." kelly witmer on Instagram: "Finished piece reel coming up next. I’m learning from this self-imposed project not to impose projects like this anymore. I got an idea to make a fishbowl, slumping fused glass into a big ceramic sculptural frame. I knew all the steps involved, and went ahead with it anyway. The ceramic frame broke before I could even get it in the kiln, (probably should have stopped there)but I repaired and managed to save it. I’m kind of stubborn, when I get something in my head I need to see it through. (eventually)"
