As an added bonus, when it's finished, you may also use the flat surface on the top to display something, such as a sign, a necklace bust or business card holder.

DIRECTIONS: 1. Paint the trivet using metallic spray paint, then let it dry. I used silver. 2. Place the trivet on a smooth surface, like a towel, so it doesn’t get scratched. Mark where you want the holes, then insert the hooks as shown in the photo. I used 16 hooks total. See photos. 3. When you are finished screwing in the hooks, place the trivet on top of the candle stick with the hooks facing down and outward.

Helpful Tips: To keep the holes evenly spaced, try marking the four corners first, and then fill in the middle. After I marked the holes, I hammered starter holes with a hammer and a nail. (You can also use a drill if you have one) This makes it easier to screw in the hooks. If it’s still difficult to turn the hooks, use pliers. Cup Hooks .97 cents per pack of eight x two from Walmart)
