Justice League's DC Comics Universe Adventure

The Justice League are an independently funded organization of superheroes dedicated towards promoting peace and combating any menaces that threaten the safety of innocents. Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, known informally as the Trinity, formed the Justice League to tackle the intergalactic menace Despero. He had used his third eye to unleash chaos on Earth, where innocent people had suddenly turned against one another. He used them as pawns to direct him towards the most devastating weaponry Earth had. The League were the only thing that stood between him and the total domination. Upon his defeat, the seven heroes stayed together in order to fight future threats. Operating from a satellite that orbits the Earth, the Justice League are an elite team that has grown from its humble beginnings to include several splinter groups. The founding seven serve as the senior team and are responsible for the funding, as well as recruitment. They are aided by Chloe Sullivan, known enigmatically as Watchtower, who acts as their eye in the sky and communications expert. GREEN LANTERN Test pilot Hal Jordan was chosen to be a member of the intergalactic peacekeeping force known as the Green Lantern Corps due to his great courage and tremendous willpower. As the successor to the great Abin Sur, Hal was trained by Sinestro and eventually became the permanent partner of the tough-as-nails Katma Tui. AQUAMAN As the love child of the Queen of Atlantis and a simple fisherman, Arthur Curry grew up in a small community on the coast of southern Europe to spare him from a certain death at the hands of Atlantean extremists. As he grew older, Arthur learned of his unique gifts and discovered his true heritage. Following the death of his father, Arthur ventured into the sea and wrested his kingdom from the clutches of his despotic half-brother Orm. Along with the throne, he acquired the sacred Trident of Poseidon, an ancient artifact passed down through the royal line of the house of Atlantis. With his new mission as the divine champion of Poseidon, he is charged with the responsibility of protecting the waters of the world from the harm that man inflicts upon them. BATMAN Orphaned as a child at the hands of a lone gunman, Bruce Wayne grew up under the guardianship of his butler Alfred Pennyworth. Sensing the fury that boiled beneath the boy's surface, Alfred helped Bruce channel his anger through training he had learned when he was once part of MI-6. With Alfred's help, Bruce became an incomparable detective and incredible martial artist. Armed with these skills, he ventured abroad in search of a purpose. Along the way, he found love, encountered true evil and transformed into a living weapon. Upon his return to Gotham City, Bruce reclaimed Wayne Enterprises to act as his cover while he fought crime at night as the vigilante known solely as the Batman. WONDER WOMAN Raised in the idyllic island community of Themyscira, Princess Diana grew up surrounded by poetry and the arts. This utopic paradise taught her the virtues of intellectual pursuit and the importance of creativity. However, Diana would soon discover this was all a facade. On the eve of her thirteenth birthday, Diana was visited by a mysterious stranger who revealed to her that the Amazons were used as pawns in an ancient civil war between the Gods and continued to live under the banishment placed upon them centuries ago. For siding against the Greeks during the Trojan War, Hera punished the Amazons by sending Heracles to steal Queen Hippolyta's prized golden girdle, which resulted in the enslavement of the Amazons at the hands of Heracles in his men. Infuriated by Hera's actions, Ares helped to free the Amazons and his lover Aphrodite used her magicks to influence Zeus into falling in love with the Amazon Queen. The brief, but passionate affair, between Hippolyta and Zeus resulted in the birth of a magical little girl. This event led to the Amazons' banishment at the hands of Hera, who exiled them to live forever on an island completely devoid of men and freezing time to a slow crawl. While centuries went by on the outside world, the Amazons were frozen in their loneliness and depression. The stranger thus revealed himself to be Ares and it was then that Diana begged the God of War to train her so that she could free her sisters from their exile and enact justice for all the Gods had done. With the help of Aphrodite, Apollo and Artemis, Ares fashioned Diana into the great champion known as Wonder Woman and sent her out into the world to maintain the balance between good and evil. SUPERMAN As one of the last of his kind, Kal-El was sent to Earth as an infant to escape the fate of his dying planet Krypton. He was raised by the kindly Kent family in the farming community of Smallville in Kansas. While the Kents attempted to raise him as a normal boy, they could not ignore the growing number of superhuman abilities their son seemed to exhibit every year as he grew older. They helped him as best they could, laying down the right foundation to set him on the path to becoming a great hero and a champion for the people of Earth. Upon graduating, Clark Kent left Smallville for the bright lights of Metropolis. It was then that he donned his familiar red cape and became the superhero known as Superman. THE FLASH After the death of his mother and the false imprisonment of his father, a young Barry Allen made a promise that someday he would find his mother's true killer and free his father from prison. Barry worked single-mindedly to get into the police academy, where he quickly learned that he wasn't suited to the physical demands of the job. Undeterred, he relied on his innate intelligence to become a forensic scientist and has continued to investigate his mother's case in his spare time. Constantly working long hours and never getting the sleep he needed, Barry was working late on a case studying evidence found at a sting against Intergang when a freak storm shorted out the power to the police station and caused feedback that transformed Barry into the fastest man alive.  MARTIAN MANHUNTER J'onn J'onnz is the last survivor of a massacre that eradicated the lives of all green Martians. He fled to Earth, where he lived for years as the police detective John Jones. After the emergence of the superheroes in the Justice Society and the increasing interest in extraterrestrials, J'onn felt safe enough to operate part-time under his true face as the hero known as the Martian Manhunter.  RELATIONSHIPS At its core, the Justice League is a family. Its nucleus is formed by Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman. They are the best of friends, though they have their distinctly different point of views. Officially, Wonder Woman and Superman are a recent coupling that draws a lot of media attention. Unofficially, Diana's affection for Superman may be out of mutual respect and Superman may truly be in love with his best friend - Batman. Similarly, Hal and Barry are frequent partners who consider each other best friends. Unfortunately, it seems Barry wishes there to be more to their friendship and he also seems to be blissfully unaware of the crush that J'onn harbours for him. Amongst the mix of the complicated hormones of his teammates, Arthur stands as the stoic core that keeps the team afloat amidst the drama. He is happily married to his Queen Mera and has developed a little family of his own through the adoption of Kaldur'ahm. However, there is increasing tension between Arthur and Diana. Since Arthur is Poseidon's champion and Diana is Ares', the ancient blood feud continues through them. I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the polls I held in the process of redesigning these characters, as well as those who commented on the individual pieces.  As always, I love hearing from you all so please feel free to leave a comment below letting me know what you think of this piece and of the individual members of this team!
