How long before proposing should you buy the engagement ring? Among respondents to our survey, the most popular time to purchase the engagement ring was 2 months before proposing, with just under a quarter (23%) purchasing then. 14% waited until the month before, and 24% selected their ring 3 months or more prior. Interestingly, 7% bought the ring after the proposal.
