The interiors of this Brooklyn condo feature neutral tones, wholesome natural materials and fibers, and subtle textures. Many of the walls are brush painted with Lime Wash, to give them a subtle textural interest. The primary suite features a custom walnut built-in headboard and side tables, a bookshelf and dresser, custom wardrobe millwork, and a sliding door with slatted detailing.

The juxtaposition of color, in both the tile and marble at the kitchen, and tilework in the bathroom, create a space which is elegant and refined but also youthful in nature. The cabinetry has many custom details, including custom wood pulls, a hidden appliance garage with a slide-out tray, built-in nooks for cookbooks and other cooking tools, Bocci outlets, and angled cabinet frames which is repeated as the angled white oak door jamb.

The natural light in our Grace Residence is always dramatic. The project was a gut renovation of a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Heights, including interior design, furnishing and decoration, and a custom velvet sofa. We painted the sunny, southern half in an all-over warm taupe color, Whispering Woods by Benjamin Moore, and the northern nighttime half in a luscious green, Benjamin Moore Porch Swing. The ceilings are painted the same as the walls to add atmosphere.

The second floor of this historic brick building was originally divided into two small rental apartments. The project involved creating a new large kitchen, living room and dining room. When construction began, the original wide plank heart pine floors were uncovered. The kitchen millwork, with nickel gap detailing, was finished to reflect the character of the wood.

The kitchen counters and integrated sink are honed, locally quarried soapstone. The cabinetry was painted blue-black to match, and the island is a contrasting white oak. The white zellige floors were laid in a pattern referential to the parquet flooring in the living room. The breakfast area includes a built-in bench made from the same white oak as the island and a custom table designed for the space. New doors with transom windows were added, leading to a new steel deck in the rear yard.

Pineapple Residence was a combination of two units in a Brooklyn Heights loft building. Transitioning from the saturated entryway to the light filled Kitchen and living space is one of our favorite moments. As you move beyond the blackened steel threshold, you enter into an incredibly calm and light filled space. New York is a hectic place, and the clients wanted to create a calming and comfortable family retreat.
Pineapple Residence was a combination of two units in a Brooklyn Heights loft building. In the kitchen, the thin metal shelf creates a lightness compared to the darker base cabinets, which grounds the space. The countertops are a sustainable material called Richlite, which is made from compressed paper. Along the back, we designed cubbies that house the most often-used items in the kitchen, so although there are no upper cabinets, there is still plenty of discreet storage.
Pineapple Residence was a combination of two units in a Brooklyn Heights loft building. The kitchen, on the opposite end of this central space, is a beautiful navy blue, tying the space together with the entry. The backsplash is a lightly speckled plaster, which adds some texture and depth, and these accent sconces are made out of thin porcelain, which really glows at night.
