New York City ballet production of Midsummer Nights Dream
The fact this isn’t a painting is a testament to one of the greatest feats of set design and production I’ve ever seen.
My god just look at this! The lighting, set design, photography… I’ve just never seen anything like it.
I think this is the first time I’ve ever been wowed by “this ISN’T a painting”!

Campaign Update
Dear Supporters,
Thank you for your continued kindness and generosity. Your support has been a source of hope for us during these incredibly trying times.
While our campaign hasn’t yet reached its goal, I’m grateful to share that the war is finally over, and the Rafah crossing is set to reopen. However, even with this step forward, our challenges remain immense.
The war has taken everything from us—our homes, our jobs, and the dreams we built for a brighter future. Today, we find ourselves living in a small tent that offers little protection from the cold of winter or the heat of summer. It’s a far cry from what we would consider a dignified or secure shelter.
The end of the war doesn’t erase the destruction it left behind. We now face the daunting task of rebuilding our lives and finding a new place to call home. It’s heartbreaking to leave the land we love, but we are determined to rebuild—our dreams, our stability, and our future.
This is why I’m reaching out to you once again. Your support can make all the difference. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us take one more step toward a dignified life—a life where we can stand on our feet again and work toward a brighter tomorrow.
Compassion has the power to create miracles. Please help us turn this tragedy into an opportunity for renewal and hope. Together, we can make a real difference in this journey.
With endless gratitude,
Roba

STILL NOTHING!
In one of her last interviews, Theda [Bara] waxed nostalgic about the silent screen. “To understand those days,” she told Hedda Hopper, “you must consider that people believed what they saw on the screen. Nobody had destroyed the great illusion. Now they know it’s all make-believe.“
She also took the casually dressed stars of the 1950’s to task, in an incisive tirade which holds just as true today as it did then. “It’s the stars themselves who have been failing the fans. People have always been hungry for glamour- they still are. But it takes showmanship and a constant sense of responsibility to hold their interest. A star mustn’t allow her public to see her in slacks. She should dress beautifully at all times- I don’t mean in a bizarre way. She must live their dreams for them and remain a figure of mystery. Glamour is the most essential part of Hollywood.”
Hollywood’s first sex symbol then offered an appraisal of Hollywood’s current sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe. “I think, like everyone else, that she is sexy. But I don’t believe she likes it much, does she? She probably will have the same trouble I have had,” Theda concluded prophetically. “She will never be able to live down her reputation.“

There’s a reason these people are fucking stupid and proud of it.

When alt music fans get pretentious about not listening to popular / mainstream music I just think about the way that like all the OG alt musicians who actually invented these genres were literally listening to household name pop rock & disco lol. Similarly to when goths act like you gotta dress a certain way to really be goth when Ian Curtis was out there in plain shirts and jeans or when rivetheads act like you gotta be hard and edgy to listen to industrial as if the birth of the scene wasn’t gays and hippies listening to folk and disco—it’s funny to see the way music fans hold themselves to higher (more pretentious) standards than the guys who made the music they’re primarily identifying as “fans of” to begin with.
In Gerda Barker’s memoir (Paul Barker of Ministry’s ex wife who was super involved in the Wax Trax! scene and worked for a time in the physical record store) she tells a great story about hearing a song on the radio for the first time and being so blown away she called up friends and was like “turn the radio on RIGHT NOW” and then she reveals the song was “Funkytown” lol.
