The papacy hypothesis is this: Christ established a successional Roman Petrine ministry that is supreme and infallible. I first establish a textual allusion between both passages, and then argue that the best explanation for the allusion is a Peter-Eliakim typology. I close by showing how this typology can validate the hypothesis that Christ instituted the papacy.

I argue that Christ established a successional and infallible apostolic teaching authority. In other words, an infallible magisterium. I present 10 arguments total, dividing each into three sections concerning the infallible (5), successional (3), and institutional (2) nature of this authority. Based on cutting-edge New Testament research and recent Rabbinic insights into the New Testament, one may conclude as historical fact that Christ as the New Moses and the Early Church as the New Israel rebuilt the courts of Moses - an institution that can with divine authority settle doctrine on faith and morals (the New Covenant halakha).

I first respond to Gavin Ortlund's objection that Nicaea II rejects development in the cultic use of images from the apostles to the Council. I accomplish this by examining the decree and sessions of the Council. The second section fills in the details on image veneration between the apostles and the Council, arguing that there has always been a cultic use of sacred images in Christianity.

I explore the distinction between typology and allegory, how I am using typology in my New Eliakim argument, and respond to various attempts to say that either typology or my argument fail to establish doctrine.
